Vox Mandoguitar

Vox Mandoguitar

As you can see, it's not really a mandolin, it's a mini-12-string, solidbody electric. Gibson had made a doubleneck model with a short-12 neck and called it a mandolin neck, so Vox did the same.

The Beatles made Vox amps famous and the Rolling Stones made the Phantom model guitar famous. Nobody has made the Mandoguitar famous yet, but it is one of producer Daniel Lanois' favorite effects. He was shown playing one on the documentary accompanying Emmylou Harris' Wrecking Ballalbum.

This mid-60s Mandoguitar (inventory #EZ4381) is a sunburst beauty in near-mint condition. With original hard case it's priced at $1500.
