Lin grew up in Louisiana and began his study of musical instrument construction and repair in 1997 at Roberto-Venn in Arizona. After completing the program, Lin returned to Louisiana to work at Vince's Backstage Music in Lafayette. He spent some time freelancing in Long Island, New York, before relocating to Nashville where he managed a repair shop handling warranty repairs for various manufacturers.
His affinity for vintage instruments brought Lin to the Gruhn repair shop in 2007. He is well-rounded in all areas of acoustic and electric instrument repair and specializes in authentication and repair of vintage Fender instruments as well as rewinding pickups.
Lin also builds custom pickups on the side for a few lucky players and is an avid record collector who is known to make a mean crawfish bisque.
