Keith was born and raised in Nashville. He played guitar in rock and R&B/soul bands, including a band with Billy Cox from 1970-72. He took a turn toward gospel music from 1973-74, working with the Imperials and winning a Dove Award with them, but he couldn't stop rockin'. In 1975 he played in the band in the rock and roll show at Opryland. USA theme park.
Keith rocked even louder in the '80s after he became one of the first authorized dealers for Mesa Boogie amps. He was Mesa's state sales rep from 1983-88. Then he moved to retail with a three-year stint at Rock Block, one of Nashville's better known guitar stores, before coming to Gruhn Guitars in October 1993. Keith has played and sold many of the finest electric guitars and amps in the world during his 20+ years in the Gruhn showroom and spends his off-time playing the blues with well-worn 1966 Strat, 1965 ES-335 and a Divided by 13 FTR-37 amp.
