Gruhn, 1958 Gibson Flying V

1958 Flying V

The Flying V wasn't for everyone when Gibson introduced it in 1958. Slightly less than 100 were shipped, and apparently the owner of one of those originals thought it could use some improvement and sent it back to Gibson -- probably around 1960 -- for some modifications.

The natural finished korina wood has been refinished white, and the original serial number re-inked on the back of the peghead. The Bigsby tailpiece was added, and the holes from the original tailpiece were doweled and finished over (the original design had string holes through the body). The pickup covers, bridge and tuners are replacements, but the pots, switch and pickups are the originals.

This instrument (inv. #EA1414) is in VG+ condition and with its original hard case (SOLD).
