Lacey Argonaut

Lacey Argonaut

Mark Lacey's Argonaut combines his renowned skill as a builder of traditional archtop acoustic guitars with a sense of practical design. The result is the Lacey Argonaut - a fully executed, handmade, carved-top guitar from one of the most respected archtop makers, but with a smaller, 15-inch body.

The Argonauts of Greek mythology traveled with Jason in his quest for the Golden Fleece, and the term has taken on a broader meaning to encompass any traveler. Lacey chose the name Argonaut for this model because he designed the smaller body to make it easier to travel with. The Greek helmet inlay on the headstock symbolizes the connection to the original Argonauts.

This is instrument is new (dated on the label 11/19/07) and features a spruce top, curly maple back and sides, and Kent Armstrong pickup. With hard case it is offered at $9000.
