1929 Gibson F-5
Lloyd Loar, the designer of Gibson's Style 5 Master Model instruments, left Gibson at the end of 1924, but the standard of excellence that he set with the F-5 continued through the 1920s.
This early 1929 "fern" sports beautifully figured maple neck, back and sides, and it exemplifies the F-5's combination of power and tone.
This mandolin (inv. #MF7027) is in excellent condition and With rectangular original hard case, it is offered at $80,000.
