1994 Gibson Custom SJ-200
Gibson's acoustic division, located in Bozeman, Montana, celebrated the company's centennial year in 1994 with a monthly series of specially designed guitars. But while the front office was picking historic designs to duplicate in batches of 100, Bozeman's master luthier Ren Ferguson went all out with this one-off custom SJ-200.
This guitar features Brazilian rosewood back and sides, elaborate tree-of-life inlay pattern on the fingerboard and peghead, engraved gold-plated Waverly tuners, and abalone trim on all the body edges. The pickguard has a '30s shape, and the saddles are the earliest SJ-200 style with individual height adjustments. The label is signed by Ren Ferguson and John Walker of the Gibson Montana Custom Shop.
