1923 Loar-signed Gibson F-5
The Gibson F-5 mandolins from 1922-24, signed and dated by the man who designed them, Lloyd Loar, are acclaimed as the epitome of mandolin design.
This Loar-signed F-5 is enhanced by the date on the label, July 9, 1923, which is the same date as Bill Monroe's F-5. And it is further enhanced by its most recent ownership by bluegrass great Ricky Skaggs.
This mandolin (inv. #MF7341) is in exceptionally fine condition, with a sound to match. With a letter from Skaggs and its original rectangular hard case. NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
