Gruhn Guitars Lacey Virtuoso

Mark Lacey Virtuoso

Mark Lacey's instrument building career began in the mid 1970s at the acclaimed London College of Furniture and Interior Design, where he built Renaissance and baroque instruments as well as archtop guitars. He gained hands-on experience with classic vintage archtops when he moved to the U.S. in 1981 to work in the Gruhn Guitars repair shop. After stints in L.A. and at the Guild factory in Westerly, RI, he returned to the Nashville area in 1995.

Lacey has a worldwide client list for his archtops, which remain faithful to classic archtop style while showcasing his own personal touches in the design of the headstock and tailpiece. This 17"-wide Virtuoso is a fine example of Lacey's artistry, featuring spectacular quilted maple, hand-engraved fingerboard inlays, and Lacey's signature tailpiece and headstock design.

This guitar (inv. #AR3857) is in mint condition. It is dated 8-1-2003 but was not finished until 2004. It has been Mark's personal guitar since then. With tweed hard case, it is offered at $18,000.
