1929 Gibson F-5
Gibson's legendary acoustic engineer Lloyd Loar left the company in 1924, but Gibson continued to make the F-5 to Loar's exacting standards.
This example from 1929 (inv. #MF6763) displays the fern-pattern peghead inlay that replaced the "flowerpot" of Loar's original design. The back is of beautifully figured curly maple, and the sound is superb. In excellent condition, with orignal hard case, this instrument is offered at $72,500
