It goes without saying that each member of the Gruhn Guitars family is exposed to a constantly changing array of instruments.  Individual tastses differ as do types of instruments and each of us connect to certain ones in unique ways.  Some are simply outstanding examples that are easily oved but there are many others that simply offer a unique design, feel and sound - these are often the ones with the most stories to tell.  Every month each staff member selects a few of these instruments that deserve a little more of the spotlight.  They are listed below.

EZ5640, c. 1988 Tom Holmes Custom Flying V Archtop (owned and used by Albert King)

EXC, figured carved maple top with mahogany body and neck, commissioned by Billy Gibbons for construction by Tom Holmes in 1988 as a gift to Albert King for his 65th birthday. Albert used this guitar for the following four years all the way up to his last public performance on December 19, 1992 - he passed away two days later. Comes with hand written letter from Tom Holmes attesting fabrication and several photographs of King using it during performances. Custom made wood case with "Albert King" engraved on brass plaque ... $130,000.00
